Great Lakes 5th Grade

Dear Great Lakes Fifth Grade Parents,
It’s that time of the year to begin thinking about the transition your child will be making to the middle school next year. In preparation for the big event, we would like you to be aware of the upcoming transitions activities for you and your child. Be sure to mark your calendars for the following activities.

Tuesday, May 12: Child and Parent Open House:

  • Fifth grade students from across the district will have a chance to tour the Superior Middle School with their parents. Teachers and administrators from SMS will be on hand to answer questions. This will take place from 5:30 – 7 pm. They will have a check in table when you arrive.

Monday, May 18:Students (only) Visit to Superior Middle School:

  • Great Lakes visits SMS from 9:30-11 a.m. Fifth grade students will be able to tour the building, meet administration and counselors, and visit with the student tour guides.

April – May:

In addition to these activities at SMS, Mrs. Bronson, Mrs. Trianoski, and Mrs. Sullivan will be involved in transition activities in the classroom designed to help your child make a smooth transition to the middle school. Information regarding summer school will also be available in May.

If you are interested in purchasing your child’s lock prior to the start of school next year, locks will be available later in May. The locks can be purchased from Mrs. Bronson and the price will be $5.

We hope these activities will help make your child’s transition to the middle school a positive one.

Feel free to contact any of the teachers or counselor with any questions.
